Fry onions in butter or margarine with salt, oregano, pepper and colored chili until cooked. Add basil, green chili and ground corn ears. All these ingredients are pre-cooked. If necessary add milk.
The corn husks are dipped in boiling water. Join two of them at a time and add 3 tbsp of the corn, mix and make a package tying it with string. These packages or humitas are places in a large 3 liter pot with salted boiling water. Cook for 30 minutes continuously in boiling water.
You can also cook this corn mixture in a pot adding more milk. This is called "humitas in a pan". This dish is served with Chilean salad or topped with powdered sugar.
